Your Cradle counselor will help you get all the information you need to consider making an adoption plan and answer any questions you may have. If you want, we can put you in touch with other women who have made an adoption plan. No one has to know you're talking with us—it's completely private. We will be there for you throughout your pregnancy and for as long as you need us. Choosing a family. You can feel secure in knowing that any family you choose will give your child a loving home. The Cradle's adoptive families are pre-screened and they need to pass a background check. They also receive education on open adoption and becoming a parent. If you make an adoption plan, your counselor will show you letters and pictures from families waiting to adopt and arrange for you to meet with the family you choose. You can read letters from some adoptive families right here on our website. Open adoption. The Cradle embraces open adoption, which means birthparents select the adoptive family and can choose to keep in touch with them and the child after placement. Every adoption plan is unique, and you and the adoptive family can work together to create a plan for staying in touch that is comfortable for everyone. If you feel that an open adoption is not for you, that's okay too. All of our families are prepared for an open adoption, so if you decide later on that you'd like contact with the family, we'll help you reconnect. Learn more about open adoption from birthparents on our Community Forum. Making the decision. We understand that adoption is not an easy decision. At The Cradle, we will do all we can to make sure you are comfortable with your adoption plan. |
