Thank you for taking the time to learn about us. Our biggest dream is to become parents. We are honored and humbled that you are considering us as possible parents for your child. We will do our best to ensure that our child has all the love and resources needed to succeed.
We hope you will join us in this journey and share special moments in our child’s life. Our thoughts are with you as we navigate through the process. This letter will give you some insight of who we are and the family we want to build.
It all started with a dance! We met while dancing the popular song “Macarena” in Costa Rica. Geoff (a Chicago native) and Heidy (a Costa Rica native) embarked in a steady relationship. After a romantic courtship, Geoff proposed to Heidy in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. A year later, we married in Chicago.
Ours is a true love affair. We still have a lot of fun dancing to this song and teaching our friends and relatives how to dance it after almost sixteen years. At every wedding reception we attend, we make sure that “Macarena” is on everyone’s dance card.
We live in the North side of the city on a tree-lined street. Our exciting diverse neighborhood is near the lakefront where we enjoy running, riding our bikes, or taking walks with Bernie, our dog. It is a family-oriented area with many parks and playgrounds.
We are both very enthusiastic and excited to become parents. We knew we wanted a family from the beginning. We prayed to God to guide us through our quest to become parents. After several miscarriages and much prayer, we realized that we were called to enhance our family through adoption. We feel blessed to have the love and support of our extended families that are eagerly waiting to welcome a new grandchild. We are looking forward to bring our child to all family reunions and celebrations in both the United States and Costa Rica.
As a multi-cultural family, we embrace and savor learning about each other’s customs and traditions. We attend various ethnic and civic events throughout the city and suburbs like the Memorial Parade, Mexican Independence Day Parade, Taste of Polonia, and the Taste of Chicago.
About Geoff by Heidy
Geoff is my best friend. He is my greatest support. Geoff works in fundraising for the law school he attended. He always amazes me with his accurate Historical knowledge. (He is constantly reading about History.) Fun and creativity are among his many talents. I enjoy reading his stories, plays, or poems, contemplating his paintings, and laughing with his imitations and silly dances. Geoff is a strong person mentally and physically. I admire his determination to improve his health by changing his lifestyle and diet to one that is more healthy and athletic. He is now training to run marathons.
Spirituality is an important element in his daily life. He makes time on his busy schedule to pray and attend church often. I know that Geoff is excited to become a father. He is looking forward to share his life and knowledge with our child. He will be a great role model.
About Heidy by Geoff
Heidy is my dearest friend and Love. She is nurturing and maternal. Heidy likes children, and she truly enjoys her work as a teacher. She especially enjoys helping children achieve their full potentials. She is constantly reading professional and inspirational books in order to become a better person. Heidy is also energetic and likes to take care of her health. Walking and biking down the lakefront path are all ways she stays active and healthy. Heidy is looking forward to teaching our child how to enjoy the great outdoors.
Praying and meditating are important events in Heidy’s life; she makes time everyday to sit quietly to meditate on God’s love. She plans to teach our child the importance of finding quiet moments to listen for guidance.
I know that Heidy is so excited about becoming a mom. She wants to help our child discover the wonderful world around us and foster his/her curiosity for life. She is planning to take our child to different interesting places such as museums, zoos, and parks. She also wishes to share her culture and language with our child. I am sure Heidy will be a loving mother to our child.
Both our jobs allow us to have vacations and Holidays. Heidy plans to take 12 weeks of maternity leave when the baby arrives. Geoff will also take some time off. His office is only a few minutes away in case there is a need. Our long- term childcare plan is that the baby will be in daycare center just minutes away from Heidy’s school. In this way, she and the baby will travel together everyday, and she will be able to visit during her planning periods and lunch. We are also lucky to count with family members and friends that have already volunteered to help us.
Thank you for taking the time to read about us. We hope that now you have an idea of who we are and the family we hope to build.
