In 1999 Robert was driving through Iowa thinking of the events over the weekend spent with Lorie. Being the obsessive person that he is it was very upsetting to find the flip-cap from the toothpaste was left open. When Robert walked out of the bathroom he explained to Lorie that the design of the toothpaste cap is to be closed after dispensing, she promptly took the tube from him and tore the flip cap off the toothpaste tube. Problem solved. This was the event that caused Robert to realize that we had something special. It was three days after the "toothpaste incident" and Robert was still laughing while driving through the cornfields. Amazingly it's always the small things in our relationship that are the most memorable. To this day the toothpaste is still dribbling from the tube and the cap is never on properly, but it's our differences that make our relationship work. We are always able to laugh with each other and never take each other too seriously. We are truly best friends and never take each other for granted. Three years later we were married at the Catholic Church Lorie attended since the age of five.
