37 years ago, Robin’s family had to make an adoption plan for her cousin when he was three years old. He was placed with a wonderful adoptive family who practiced openness before it became the norm for adoptions. They always made sure he was at our holiday gatherings and family celebrations. Our family became part of their family, which made a very difficult situation a little easier. As the birth family, we appreciated this so much! This experience has truly given us a unique perspective on adoption and the importance of openness. We cannot begin to understand how overwhelming this must be for you. Choosing just the right family for your child must be so hard. Without knowing the right words to say, we will just wish you peace while you make this decision.
