Since 1996, The Cradle has participated in First Look for Charity, the gala black-tie preview night of the Chicago Auto Show benefiting several Chicago area charities.  This year’s First Look, held on Thursday, February 9 at McCormick Place, was an elegant and eye-opening event, where thousands turned out to view gleaming new cars while supporting their favorite charities.

The Cradle Foundation’s dedicated First Look committee, co-chaired by Bill Stasek and Howard Brinn, sold more than 700 tickets (a new record!) to our Valentine’s Day-themed private reception, “Be My Baby.”  Guests enjoyed cocktails, tasty hors d’oeuvres, dessert, music, dancing, a silent auction, raffles and more.  They also had the opportunity to stroll the show floor and take a first look at more than 1,000 new vehicles – some on display for the first time anywhere.

Congratulations to all of the evening’s prize winners.  Keith Parker won the grand raffle prize of a 55” high-definition television, and Kristi and Mark Ryken won a night’s stay at the deluxe Peninsula Hotel and a champagne basket in our “A Chance at Romance” raffle.  We are grateful to everyone who attended the party and participated in our auction and raffles.  To Walgreens we extend a special thank you for their generous sponsorship of The Cradle reception.
