I was just wondering if this works at all. Seems like some of these threads are pretty old.I was thinking I would start a thread to see if I could make connections with any other adoptive families and any other birth families. Just for conversation. Never hurts to talk smile.gif

We are David and Linley Castagna. We're prospective adoptive parents going through the process for the first time. It's been an interesting process and we have learned alot about adoption, being an adoptive parent and some of what it means to be a birth parent. We've also learned alot about ourselves! We've met a few friends and would like to meet more as we know that the more of us that go through this together, the better off we all are for it.

If anyone wants to make contact on Facebook, David is on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=136...39&ref=name

Well I certainly hope you have better luck than we did. I'm sure you're good and deserving parents.

We tried very hard to be the people that the Cradle wanted us to be and we filled out every form and went to all the classes and were very excited to get going. We were ready. We want very much to be parents and we were very much open to the open adoption concept. We were submitting our 2-page letter to our counselor when she said "it's a good thing you called me..." In the end our counselor and her supervisor decided to kick us out of their program because we were "not a good fit for the program". We're still not really sure what a "good fit" means and they were really very vague about the reasons why we were booted out. It took pulling teeth practically just to get a letter stating that they had kicked us out.

They really have no idea how much that hurt us and what a struggle it has been for us to recover emotionally from what was essentially a shot out of nowhere. All we really ever have wanted was to build a loving and stable happy home for a child that needed us...
