Pregnant? The Cradle Can Help

Pregnancy is overwhelming. Especially if it is unplanned.

You may feel isolated, but you are not alone. As you think about your future, there are so many things to consider—emotionally, physically, socially and financially. You may be asking yourself: “Who can I trust to help?” The simple answer: The Cradle

Perhaps you’re not ready to be a parent. Maybe the idea of adoption worries you, too. At The Cradle, our caring professionals will help you explore all your options and support your decision with complete privacy and respect.

We will never tell you what to do. Nor will we ever judge the choices you make. We are simply here to help you understand how adoption could work in your situation and support you as you make decisions.

We understand and we are here to help.

Every day we meet pregnant women dealing with your same concerns. Our free and private counseling services let you talk about what your life is like today and imagine what it could be like in the future. If adoption seems like a good idea for you, your Cradle counselor will go over all your options and help you select or meet potential adoptive families. Of course, you can meet with your Cradle counselor as often as you like.

At this time of your life, even “the basics” aren’t so basic. We are happy to help you with pregnancy-related expenses and living arrangements, as needed. Any assistance The Cradle provides is given as a gift, with no strings attached. It does not obligate you to place your child for adoption.

We can also refer you to community resources for low-cost or free health care to make sure you get the pre-natal medical care you need to best take care of your health and your baby's.

We realize making a decision about your pregnancy isn't easy.

You may not have made a definite plan or final decision by the time you give birth. That’s okay. You are invited to use The Cradle nursery while finalizing your plans. With over 85 years of experience, you can be confident that your baby is in good hands with our caring and expert staff. And, naturally, you are welcome to visit as often as you like. If you do not live in Illinois, The Cradle has carefully selected other temporary care options. Please email a counselor for more information.

Choosing Adoption

In the video on this page, Michelle discusses the process of choosing adoption for her daughter: I found out I was pregnant when I was 16. Um, so at the time, I was in high school, just going to school. You go through this initial phase of denial, and thinking that, you know, maybe this is a fluke, maybe this isn’t really happening, maybe…and it was real. And it was scary, and it was overwhelming.
