When we were a waiting family, it seemed that if you were open to child  of a birth race, ethnicity or culture other than your own, it was entirely up to you to find information and do research. Having access to more information  regarding this area would be VERY helpful as we try to incorporate our  child's race/ethnicity/culture into everyday life.  While the Cradle did not directly help us with learning about our child's  first culture, the education we received at the Cradle did help us understand  the importance of learning and we learned from other sources books/online  groups) that we found ourselves.  More information to prepare parents for transracial adoption and dealing  with racism is needed.  Everything I leaned regarding race, ethnicity and adoptive issues I learned  on my own, through research and yahoo groups like Adoption Parenting  and Single Adopt China.  ]]></SlideText>
