Special Events & Volunteer Coordinator

The Cradle seeks a full-time Special Events & Volunteer Coordinator to manage all Cradle special events and volunteers. Reporting to the VP of Development, this position is responsible for overseeing all fundraising events, ranging from mid-sized community gatherings to large-scale galas.  These events include but are not limited to:  A Night for the Nursery, Rock the Cradle and A Day at the Races.  Events also include Cradle Connections gatherings designed for Cradle Families such as the Cradle Family Picnic, Open House and the Cradle Holiday Party. The role also requires the management of Cradle Alumni Reunions (potentially regionally) and engagement with future alumni chapters.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Event fundraising management: Develop, implement and refine fundraising strategies on an annual basis to increase revenue and reduce expenses related to special events. Secure and coordinate all appropriate contracts, permits and licensing, manage materials, supplies and signage needed for event production.
  • Budgeting and project management: Create and adhere to project budgets and timelines. Utilize Raisers Edge to track and collect funds raised, monitor progress of registration, ticket sales and income goals and adjust plans as appropriate. Work with Development Manager and VP Development to create income and attendance projections for events. Conduct post-event follow up and action steps. Keep accurate records and comparison charts for every year.  Work with Cradle Finance to reconcile all events.
  • Committee Staffing & Support: Staff all event committees.  Provide timely and accurate reports for event chairs and committee members.  Work with the Development Manager to recruit committee members and actively engage them in events.
  • Sponsorship:  Execute sponsorship strategies defined by the VP Development and Development Manager to support all events.  Help identify potential in kind sponsors to supplement and enhance event day needs.
  • Event communications and public relations: In coordination with the Marketing Manager develop and fine-tune strategic communications and marketing strategies for special events and programs. Actively work with the Marketing Manager in the creation of print and web-based materials to enhance fundraising efforts. 
  • Volunteer Coordinator:Serve as The Cradle’s lead in implementing, strengthening and overseeing the agency’s Volunteer Program. This includes volunteer recruitment and retention for Cradle Connections events.
  • Manage Vendor Relations: Effectively manage vendor relationships to ensure ongoing support and participation for all Cradle events.
  • Data entry: Responsible for the timely and accurate entry and updating of sponsor information, in-kind vendors and volunteers into Raiser’s Edge.

Overall responsibilities: 

  • Foster strong working relationships with board and event committee members, donors, volunteers and staff. 
  • Ongoing contribution to the strategic long-term vision of The Cradle through suggestions for innovation and efficiencies in event and fundraising programming.
  • Critically evaluate events to determine if they are effective. Be prepared and willing to make recommendations for improvement where necessary.
  • Investigate industry trends and new ideas for future fundraising initiatives and existing events.
  • Contribute to The Cradle’s communications as needed.
  • Attend committee meetings and programmatic events as applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Development Manager and VP Development.
  • Must possess ability to interact professionally with donors, visitors, vendors and internal staff.
  • Be passionate about The Cradle’s mission.

You will be the ideal candidate, if you:

  • Bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of 3-6 years of experience in event management and fundraising, preferably with a nonprofit organization.
  • Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising software.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving and communication skills (both written and oral) with a demonstrated attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects, meet critical deadlines and work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Possess an ability to interact professionally with potential donors, participants, external vendors, volunteers and board members.
  • Must be resourceful and creative with a commitment to relationship building.
  • Must have car and valid driver’s license
  • Flexibility to attend evening and/or weekend meetings and/or events.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Strong Excel skills are required.

Flex Pool RN or LPN (ongoing posting) -- Evanston Office

Flex schedule working a 7.75 hours day as required. 

Responsibilities: assessing and addressing the needs of the infants, documenting all interventions, completing admit and discharge procedures, medication administration when applicable, observing and reporting any health concerns nursery supervisor and/or the Medical Director, interfacing with the social services staff, establishing positive contact with birth and adoptive parents, supervising the Infant Aide, volunteer staff, and all child care. 

Requirements: current professional license in Illinois; experience in infant care preferred.

Child and Family Therapist (Part Time)

The Cradle has an opening for a part-time Child and Family Therapist for our Evanston office. We are seeking an experienced Family Therapist that will demonstrate a strong desire to work collaboratively with families, adolescents, children and adults.

We are looking for a clinician who is trained in delivering strengths-based approaches to improve and enhance family functioning. For this particular position, we are looking for a candidate open to working afternoons, evenings and weekends to accommodate client needs.  

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing individual and family therapy using established interventions to address issues related to trauma, loss, identity, and adoption.
  • Conducting assessments
  • Writing treatment plans and progress notes in Therapy Notes
  • Facilitating workshops and groups
  • Collecting client paperwork and fee payments as needed
  • Attending department meetings as scheduled 
  • Maintaining  a referral network
  • Maintaining good standing with the appropriate licensing and insurance entities
  • Staying current with updated research and best practices in clinical field
  • Safeguarding client information per HIPAA standards and maintaining client and agency confidentiality at all times

You will be the ideal candidate, if you:

  • Have a Master’s degree in mental health field and a hold a valid Illinois professional license (LCSW/LCPC/LMFT)
  • Have training and/or certification in an attachment-focused/trauma-informed specialty
  • Have 3 or more years of post-graduate experience including 2 years of experience in adoption or child welfare
  • Are able to  maintain a caseload of a minimum of ten clients per week
  • Are able to provide high quality, compassionate and ethical treatment to clients
  • Work productively and positively with individuals in related positions including, but not limited to, other clinical team members, administrative personnel and collaborative contacts in the community
