Adoption Counselor

Essential Functions
Adoption Services

  • Interview, assess, and prepare prospective adoptive parents
  • Write assessments, home studies, post placement reports, and other reports as needed
  • Provide support and assistance to prospective adoptive parents
  • Review family profiles
  • Facilitate match meetings and placements
  • Maintain client information in Family Builder
  • Participate in task force initiatives
  • Recruit and screen families for adoption of infants with severe medical special needs

Education/Training

  • develop and facilitate education sessions for groups of prospective adoptive families

Minimum Requirements
The following requirements are necessary for jobholders to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related field required
  • 3-5 years of experience in the adoption field
  • Must be comfortable discussing difficult topics
  • Strong presentation skills

  • Strong attention to detail

Vice President of Finance

Essential Functions

  • Plans, organizes, manages and supervises all financial and accounting activities of the organization related to financial statement preparation, budgeting and forecasting, cash receipts and cash disbursements, payroll, cash management, investments, debt management, tax filings, audit, and 403(b) plan accounting
  • Plans long-range financial goals, objectives and directions
  • Establishes/Maintains financial and accounting system controls and standards.
  • Formulates and implements financial policies and procedures
  • Develops, implements and maintains processes for budgeting, financial forecasting and cash flow
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws in regards to financial issues.
  • Analyzes, interprets and projects financial data and recommends changes to improve systems and financial performance.
  • Maintains general ledger.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements.
  • Manages annual financial and tax audits, including preparation of the draft audit report and Form 990 for the consolidating organizations.
  • Prepares all financial data for grant applications.
  • Serves as a business partner to the President/CEO on the organization’s financial, budgeting and administrative processes with an eye to continuously development and improving systems.
  • Manages payroll processing.
  • Handles tax filings related to 403(b) plan, unclaimed property, special event tax filings, annual report filings, and property tax filings.
  • Manages insurance claim processing and patient billing for the organization’s therapeutic counseling practice.
  • Maintain high standards of excellence and customer service – for both internal and external customers.
  • Serves as a liaison with financial institutions and the investment community.
  • Serve as a member of the Senior Management Team.
  • Serves as the staff liaison for the Finance/Audit Committee and the Investment Committee.
  • Supervises staff members in the Finance Department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the President/CEO.

Minimum Requirements
The Vice President of Finance will have at least ten years of related professional experience and will have the following experience and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in business, management or finance.
  • CPA preferred
  • Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse and dynamic team
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the nonprofit sector
  • Experience with general ledger databases. Additional experience with fundraising databases a plus.
  • Experience should include legal, audit, compliance, budget and resource development
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies and guiding investment in people and systems
  • Proven effectiveness in leading professionals in finance and accounting
  • Flexible and a self-starter; able to multi-task while also being highly detail-oriented.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to The Cradle.
