Hi there! We’re Bobby and Peter. We’re an adventurous and big-hearted couple who cannot wait to add another member to our team! Thank you for checking out our profile — we hope it gives you a good idea of who we are and what kind of life we want for our future child.

How we met

In many ways, Beyoncé is responsible for our relationship. We met at a mutual friend’s birthday party, and we both chickened out when asking for the other’s phone number at the end of the party.  However, Bobby had shown Peter his new Facebook cover photo, which was a picture from Beyoncé’s Countdown video (because she was playing the Superbowl the next day).  Peter used some Facebook magic to find Bobby’s account and send him a message.  Before the night was over, we had a date set.

Thank you, Beyoncé, for this and all your other blessings.

About Bobby

I'm a joker, a movie buff, and I'm always singing whatever song is stuck in my head (it's usually Amy Winehouse or Janelle Monáe).  I love city life, because I love running through the parks, biking along the lakeshore, and hitting the beaches.  I am so excited to be one of those dads jogging alongside his kid's bike on the lakeshore path in the summer!

My parents really stressed the importance of working together and helping each other. This is the biggest lesson I want to teach our child, and I hope to help them discover the best way to give back using their skills. I'm lucky to use my legal background to represent people who are trying to prove that they have been wrongfully convicted of murder (like that Netflix show Making a Murderer). I know our child will find the best way for them to give back, too!

About Peter

I love meeting new people, reading, listening to podcasts, and coming up with silly jokes to make Bobby roll his eyes. I’m a coffee lover, and I’m always hungry.

I grew up in Utah, but I’ve spent more of my life in Chicago now. Growing up in Utah gave me a love of outdoorsy stuff, and I can’t wait to share the natural beauty of my home state with my kids. However, I moved to Chicago because I’m an urban boy at heart. I’m so excited to show my kids the wonderful city of Chicago -- I love exploring new neighborhoods, getting to try food from different cultures, and just being in the hustle and bustle of the city.

Our Family

Our child has a big, loving family waiting for him or her.  Peter is the oldest of three, and his two sisters, brother-in-law, and parents all live in Salt Lake City.  We still keep in close contact with them; we visit them about twice a year, and we Skype every Sunday night!

Bobby is the youngest of five, and everyone lives in the Chicago area.  We see each other all the time for birthdays, holidays, and random get-togethers at Grandma and Grandpa’s house!  We have eight nieces and nephews on Bobby’s side, and they’re all so excited to add another baby to the mix!

We understand that an open adoption is a lifelong process of figuring out what works for birth parents and adoptive parents. We have an adopted niece and nephew, so we've seen firsthand that open adoption means something different to each family.  We know our niece's birth mom quite well: she comes to family events, she spends holidays with us. On the other hand, our nephew's birth parents are not yet ready for regular visits.  Even so, his birth parents are still a part of his life: there are pictures of them in the house, and since he was born our family has talked about his birth parents and how he came to be such an important part of our family.  We're excited to work with our child's birth parents to figure out what openness looks like for our family.
