We have had eight wonderful years together, and we can’t wait for the next—and most important—step in our relationship, parenthood.  We have always known that becoming parents was in our future, in fact it was one of the first discussions we had when we were dating.

We’re very happy that you’re taking some time to learn about us.  We hope that you get a sense of who we are, and the home that your child would be raised in. We have always dreamed of becoming parents and growing our family, and we would like to thank you for considering us.

Our lives together

We met more than eight years ago, when Paul was working at a bookstore and Sid was just starting graduate school.  I think we both would agree that we knew immediately that we were meant to grow old together. We bought a house, got an Illinois Civil Union as soon as it was legally allowed, and were married shortly thereafter.  When our many family members and friends asked us why we were in a rush to get married, our answer was always the same: We wanted to adopt and become parents.  To us, marriage was the ultimate sign of our love for each other, and the foundation for us to grow our family.

Our home and neighborhood

When we were looking for a new place to call our home and to grow our family in, we knew that we would want a comfortable, welcoming house in a safe neighborhood with high quality schools with diverse students and families.  Laszlo the cat is 20 pounds of love, fur, and friendliness.  He is always purring and welcoming guests.  Roscoe the dog is energetic and loves-loves-loves people.  Together we know they will love your child and help provide a childhood full of fun memories.

Our home also reflects the five years that we have lived here: Sid has his vegetable and spice gardens; Paul has his “man cave” with movie memorabilia. We have welcomed hundreds of friends and family through our doors over the years, and host multiple movie nights, BBQ’s, dinners, and get-togethers each year.

Sid, in Paul’s words

The first night we met, I can remember looking at him as we walked along Lake Michigan and instantly falling for him, a feeling that hasn’t subsided in the eight years we have been together.  We continually go through life with love, humor and a keen understanding of each other--whether we’re together exploring the world or snuggling on our couch with the pets around us.  Sid is my best friend in life, someone who serves as the logical yin to my emotional yang when needed, and vice versa.

Paul, in Sid’s words

Paul is my best friend, my confidant, my travel companion, my trusted advisor, the sounding board I use when I need an honest opinion, my Do-It-Yourself house project helper, and the person who I can’t wait to be a co-parent with.  We have shared years of happiness and joy together, with many milestones and achievements during that time. Paul is still able to surprise me, and is still able to make me laugh in a way that no one else can. At times it seems we share a special language that no one else can quite decode.

We sincerely thank you for taking the opportunity to learn a bit about who we are, and we hope to have the opportunity to learn about you, and your hopes for your child.  We wish you the very best on your journey, and we hope to share our journey with you too.
