6:00 - 7:00 PM Reception | 7:00 - 9:00 Program

In partnership with Center on Halsted, in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, we will engage in an honest and open dialogue which aims to give diverse families the tools they need to better understand, support and parent their children.

Join us as we discuss some very important topis around LGBTQ parenting.

Our panel, which will be comprised of LGBTQ parents and children who were raised in LGBTQ households, will discuss issues prevalent in their own families, such as:

  • how LGBTQ parents talk to their children about their family and address tough questions their children may ask
  • how children in LGBTQ families can talk openly and comfortably about their family life to teachers, classmates and friends
  • what language is used in schools to define “family” and whether prejudice exists in our school system toward children with LGBTQ parents

A question and answer session will follow the discussion.
