Karin Peterson, LCSW

Community Outreach and Education

Karin has held several positions within The Cradle since earning her Masters in Social Work from Boston College in 1994. She prepared adoptive parents for adoption, provided options counseling to expectant parents and supervised The Cradle's Birthparent Services program for eight years. Currently, Karin is enjoying bringing her experience and commitment to best practices in adoption to her role in Community Outreach and Education by offering training and support to professionals interfacing with women and men considering the option of adoption.

Kathyrn Smith - adoption training and education

Kathyrn Smith, MS

Community Outreach and Education

For as long as she can remember, Kathyrn has had a desire to work in a supportive capacity with children and families. Her 20 year career in Child Welfare includes various professional roles with Private Agency Foster Care and Adoptions. Kathyrn has worked as an individual, family, and group therapist serving people with mild to severe mental health diagnosis and substance use.  She embraces diversity. Kathyrn works from a strengths based perspective and centers her work around the needs and unique attributes of each client.

Kathyrn graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and earned her Masters Degree in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
